What does “titrate up” mean?

When you follow the manufacturer’s titration instructions, it means you’re moving from a lower dose to a higher dose. The order of titration is 2.5mg, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 & 15. Each time you “move up” to a higher dose, it’s called “Titrating up.” Side effects sometimes are more common when titrating up. So it’s a good idea to eat safe, small meals in these times.

Eli Lilly set their recommended titration schedule based on research where they compared different schedules to each other and measured quantities and intensities of adverse incident reports from the trial participants. You can read their titration schedule on the paper inside every box of pens. A link to their research article is below. In summary, “lower starting doses and smaller dose increments are associated with a more favourable side effect profile.”
