- Even though it may seem counter intuitive, some think that the lower esophageal sphincter (LES, the “doorman” muscle that prevents food from coming up into your esophagus from the stomach) is not as tight when the acid level in the stomach is actually too LOW. So under this theory is recommended that you try shots of apple cider vinegar diluted in plain glass of water, and lemon water. There are YouTube videos reviewing the use of Apple cider vinegar and ppl say they discontinued all use of prescription antacids after adopting this practice.

Re: theories on when best to take PPI pills: “For this reason, in the case of pantoprazole and omeprazole, since food decreases the AUC, it would be better to administer these drugs under fasting conditions.
